Working harder isn't the answer.
6 reasons why working harder isn't the answer.
- Burnout: Without taking time to properly rest, the body will inevitably burnout. This type of mental and physical exhaustion stunts growth and prevents work from getting done.
- Effort vs Effectiveness: Long hours of work isn't the most effective way to get things done. It's actually more effective to delegate tasks, prioritize what gets done, and intersperse short breaks during long work hours.
- Proper Tools: You can purpose in your heart to work as hard as you can, but without the proper tools, you won't be able to get the job done. You'll end up burning yourself out. As a result, you'll be less effective.
- Lack of Knowledge: The definition of wasting time is working hard without proper knowledge. It's best to learn the skills and acquire the knowledge needed, so you're not spinning your wheels and wasting time.
- Idolatry: The overemphasis of always having to work reveals that work has become an idol. This is especially true, when other relationships suffer. When this happens, it's time to change direction and invest more time in other people.
- Downtime: Some of the best ideas come after a period of downtime. Downtimes give the mind a chance to relax and decompress. This results in a freshened, more effective and creative thinking mind.
