Whose work?

Whose work?

2 questions:

  • Are works needed for salvation?
  • If so, whose work is needed?

The Bible tells us salvation does not and cannot come from the works of man:

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

It's clear that man's work cannot provide salvation. Since it's impossible for man to save himself through his own works, then whose work is needed?

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Question: Are works needed for salvation?

Answer: YES. The Bible makes it clear that there is a work needed for salvation. It's the WORK OF Christ alone that saves souls. So, if you're a born-again Christian, it was the workmanship of Christ that saved you. Therefore, Christians are HIS workmanship.

The Bible is crystal clear on how and where good works fit into our lives.

  1. Man cannot bring any good works to God FOR salvation.
  2. Salvation is solely through the glorious, and sacrificial work OF Christ.
  3. All saved individuals are IN Christ because of HIS workmanship.
  4. The new life Christ has given us now has a new purpose.
  5. That purpose is to live "unto good works".

Let's be sure to "walk in them".
