What to Preach On?
Have you ever asked: What am I going to preach or teach on?
Opening the bible is the easy part. We have 2 Testaments containing 66 books. Within those books are 1,189 Chapters. The chapters contain 31,102 verses. The verses are made up of 783, 137 words.
The Bible's a big book, offering you a lot of options to choose from. Opening it is easy. Making a decision on what to preach or teach sometimes is not easy.
It's easier to have a text assigned to you. It's easier to use the 'flip-the-pages & stop-n-point' method.
However, the choice becomes less difficult and more Holy Spirit led when the preacher or teacher embraces the following:
- He takes personal responsibility for his own daily Bible reading.
- He is a workman that studies the Bible.
- He is committed to expositional, verse-by-verse preaching, rather than always looking for the latest 'felt-need' to preach on.
Algorithms, AI's and "microwave-sermons" found online can't help you make this all important choice.
If you have been given the opportunity to teach the word of God, do not take it lightly. Be personally committed to doing the work.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
