What is prayer?
Prayer is the humble and earnest act of asking for God's favor.
Prayer is spiritual fellowship and communion with God.
Job said: "my prayer is pure." (Job 16:17)
The Psalmist wrote: "Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee." (Psalms 102:1)
Proverbs 15:8 says: "the prayer of the upright is his delight."
Proverbs 15:29 says: "but he heareth the prayer of the righteous."
God delights to hear his children cry out to Him in pure prayer.
The disciples asked the Lord to teach them how to pray!
Mark 11:17 And he (Jesus) taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Jesus taught a powerful lesson by pointing out that IF you take prayer out of the church house, you'll end up with a den of thieves.
Greed and the love of money is what defiled the temple. The same danger lurks at the modern day church-house.
When the church-house is only used for the business opportunities it affords someone, it's become a den of thieves.
The only way to truly live as Christian pilgrims in this world is by communion with God through prayer!
Cry out to Him in pure prayer today!
