We owe it to our kids

We owe it to our kids

As adult Christians, we owe it to our kids, to give them the unwavering example of what it means to enjoy living the Christian life.

The best investment we can make is the example we're willing to set forth before them. And living the Christian life isn't just attending a church service for an hour on a Sunday.

We must prayerfully make it a point to give our children the example of:

  • a consistent habit of monthly, and if possible weekly, public evangelism. Our children must see us involved in gospel tract distribution, holding scripture signs on a public street corner, door-knocking in our community, appropriately preaching open-air, and leading nursing home ministries, and Good News Clubs.
  • a healthy diet of good, Christian music, instead of the Rock 'n Roll, Country Rock, CCM or Secular Top 40 music that is one of the greatest influencers in most kids lives.
  • a wardrobe of modest apparel, that includes gender distinction. This gender distinction should allow for the boys and men to wear the pants, and the ladies to wear the blouses, dresses and skirts.
  • be willing to rebel against the world, and it's cross-dressing culture. If you have to engage in name-calling, call the world's fashion designer an "illegalist", rather than calling the Christian a "legalist."
  • the high-priority of making it to the church house for all the services, including the mid-week service and the weekly prayer meeting. FYI: The reason why most churches have taken their Sunday afternoon/evening service off the schedule is because the people won't come back and attend.

Our children are worth the investment. The sacrifice, we should make as parents, should be to humble ourselves before God and get our lives in order.

The next generation is waiting for us to not only BE the example, but to LIVE the example! If we want our kids to grow up, then we as parents must first grow up!
