The Humility of Christ
1 Timothy 6:14-17 speaks of the honour and power that belongs only to the Lord Jesus Christ.
...our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Revelation 19:15-16 speaks of the fierceness and wrath of our Lord.
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Yet, Philippians 2:8 describes Him as our perfect example of humility and obedience.
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Christ laid aside all the symbols of His glory and obediently HUMBLED HIMSELF.
Christ could have come and bragged about His wrath, power, Lordship, and honour. Instead, he came as a humble servant and obediently died on Calvary's tree. We owe our salvation to His perfect, humble obedience.
It may be a good idea to knock ourselves down a few notches and get a hold of living as humble servants of Christ.
