Original Only, or Only Wise God?

Original Only, or Only Wise God?
Original Only, or Only Wise God?

There are theologians who argue for the inerrancy of scripture found only in the original autographs.

In that same argument, they will also admit that there are no original autographs that exist anywhere on earth; instead, we only have copies of the originals.

When theologians argue that inerrancy is found only in the originals, by default, they also argue that copies of the originals, are indeed errant. In short, these theologians cannot honestly say that there exists a Bible anywhere on earth that is inerrant.

Without knowing it, this type of argumentation becomes self-aggrandizing. The theologian unwittingly positions himself, his reasoning, his research, his logic and his method of concluding as the final authority.

Since the final authority of the inerrant original autographs don't exist, Christians can't appeal to them. What Christendom is left with are final theologians to believe in, not a book to believe in.

I'm sticking with THE BOOK!

The Authorized King James Bible is my final authority that I read, trust, obey and believe.

Yes: God supernatural inspired the original autographs. He also supernaturally preserved what He inspired.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The same faith we have in our God who spoke the world into existence, is the same faith we should have in our God to preserve His word, without error; as well as put it in a book that we can hold in our hand, and read in the English language.

Man can't do that. Only God can do that. Only God can take sinful men, and use them for His purpose of scriptural preservation.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

We'll never fully understand how God created something out of nothing, when he framed the worlds. But it should be a lot easier for the human heart to believe that God could perfectly preserve a copy of an original manuscript that previously existed.

If someone says they can't understand that, rather than correcting the Bible, they should pray to the One who perfectly inspired and preserved it, to give them understanding. This seems like a much wiser route than going to a fallible theologian.

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Rather than embracing the "original only position," consider embracing the "only wise God" position of scriptural inspiration and preservation.

To Him be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen!
