Be on guard
1 Timothy 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
A lot of the Christian life is about being on guard as we war a good warfare in the Lord's army.
Being on guard means we better HOLD onto faith and a good conscience.
The Bible says: faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Notice what it says in 1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, INVISIBLE, the only wise God.
Faith allows us to trust the INVISIBLE GOD as our source of strength.
Our invisible and only wise God has also given us a good conscience. This helps us discern when to be on guard, and when to advance with courage.
1 Timothy 1:17 ends with this warning: which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
A military general can have the most highly trained guard defending their fort. However, it doesn't matter how good this guard is, IF there's a traitor opening the back gate to let in the enemy.
The charge for Christians is to hold on to faith, and a good conscience.
The warning for Christian is that some will put away faith, and a good conscience.
