A sense of urgency

A sense of urgency

The Golden Age of railroads spanned from 1880 through the 1920's. It was when traveling by train was popular. Along with a purchased train ticket, also came the sudden sense of urgency to arrive on time for the scheduled departure time.

Most of us can picture in our mind what it would have looked like when a train is leaving the station, and someone who was late for their departure time, is frantically running to try to stop the already moving train.

A better idea for this person would have been to think through their plan on how to arrival earlier next time, because stopping a moving train isn't a realistic plan.

Likewise, all of us have a departure time from this world. The thing is, we don't know when our appointment with death will occur. What we do know is that none of us can stop death. However, there is one man that defeated death: the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you haven't already, you might want to plan for an early departure. The reason being is that once death knocks on your door, you can run frantically all you want, but you won't be able to stop it.

Satan wants to convince you that there is no sense of urgency concerning life after death. The truth is, that the God of the Bible has a different message, and it does come with a sense of urgency.

Hebrews 9:26-28 For then must he (JESUS) often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he (JESUS) appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

By the way, there is no need to purchase a ticket, as biblical salvation cannot be bought, sold, or earned. Christ offers it as a free gift to whosoever will!

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
