What Must I Do to Be Saved?

The Most Important Question You'll Ever Ask
When the Philippian jailer cried out, "What must I do to be saved?" Paul's answer was beautifully simple: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).
Salvation isn't complicated. God uses six simple words throughout Scripture to show anyone how to be saved.
Six Biblical Words That Lead to Salvation
1. COME
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Jesus simply says come. Not "earn it" or "figure it out" - just come to Him.
2. TAKE
"Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 22:17). Salvation is a free gift. You just need to take it.
3. TASTE
Jesus tasted death for you (Hebrews 2:9) so you could "taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psalm 34:8). He tasted death - you can taste life.
4. LOOK
Just as Moses lifted up the bronze serpent and people looked and lived (Numbers 21), Jesus said "as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up" (John 3:14). Look to Jesus and live.
5. SEEK
"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). God seeks you first. When you seek Him back, you're responding to His love.
6. TRUST
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart" (Proverbs 3:5). Will you trust Jesus Christ as your Savior? Will you trust His finished work on the cross?
It All Comes Down to This
Salvation requires one thing: submission to God. "Submit yourselves therefore to God" (James 4:7). Stop trusting in yourself and start trusting in Jesus.
You can be washed clean today. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says, "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus."
The Simple Truth
Romans 10:13 promises: "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
You don't need special words. If your house was on fire, you'd know what to say: "Help!" If the Holy Spirit is working in your life, you'll know what to say: "Lord, save me!"
Will you call upon the Lord today?
Don't overcomplicate it. Don't wait until you feel "good enough." Just come. Just take. Just taste. Just look. Just seek. Just trust.
Jesus became acquainted with grief so you could be acquainted with God. He was rejected so you could be received. Will you receive Him today?
