What are Supplications?

What are Supplications?

Supplications are humble and earnest requests, asking God to fill a specific need.

It comes from the root word: "supply." Through supplications, we can bring our specific needs before God and ask Him to supply.

Supplications are not just general prayer requests like: "bless this food." Instead, they are more like: "please provide us with enough money to purchase groceries this week."

The American mindset of self-sufficiency brings with it the humanistic philosophy that man will supply all his own needs, rather than praying that God will supply all of our needs.

Rich American's have been brainwashed into thinking that "wants" are "needs". They fail to realize that most of the world does not live as rich as they do.

1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content, doesn't sit well with discontented Americans who always seem to need more to be happy.

People don't need more to be happy. People need to be happy with the more, God supplied for them.

The race to be the next self-made American millionaire, is actually a race away from God. It's a race that's all about MAN, as the great supplier. This race forgets about God.

The race back to God starts with a prayer life that includes supplications. This will remind all of us who the great supplier is.

If the Lord does bless you with a million bucks, please remember He was the one that supplied you with the health, the energy, the business mind, the people to help, and the opportunity.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
