Upon further review
When I look through past sermon notes, many times I found that what I wrote was not as helpful as I initially thought it to be. I sometimes think to myself: I can't believe I wrote that, or I can't believe I said that.
At the time I initially wrote it or preached it, I must have thought it was clearly presented and easily understood. But upon further review, I realized it wasn't as "good" or "helpful" as I thought it was.
Now contrast that with fear.
Sometimes, when we're face to face with it, we think it's the scariest and most problematic issue we've ever encountered. But upon further review, we find out that it wasn't as scary as our minds made it out to be.
Christians must remember that the God, who promised to never leave us, also promised to be our helper. One great help that believers have is the spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Praise God, that he never gave us, or intended for us to have the spirit of fear.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
