Too Busy for Church

Too Busy for Church
Empty church pews — you didn't run out of time. You ran out of priority.

If you're too busy for church, you're too busy.

I've heard every version of the excuse. Sports. Travel. Rest. Family time. They're not bad things. That's what makes it complicated. Nobody's skipping church for something obviously wrong. They're skipping it for something that feels reasonable.

But reasonable isn't the same as right.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. – Matthew 6:33

Your kids are watching what you do on Sunday morning. They're not listening to what you say about God. They're watching what you do when it costs you something. And if church is always the first thing to go when the calendar gets full, they're learning a theology whether you mean to teach one or not.

That lesson tends to stick.

God isn't asking for what's left after everything else is settled. He's asking for first. Build your week around Sunday. Not everything else first and church if there's room.

There usually isn't room. You have to make it.
