There Is No Fifth Amendment Before God
We watched Dr. Fauci repeat the same words 111 times before a Senate committee this week: "On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution." Same script. Same posture. Same silence, no matter the question.
That moment preached!
A man can hide behind an attorney. He cannot hide behind the Judge who already knows every secret thing (Ecclesiastes 12:14). Counsel can tell a man what to say to protect himself from men. Counsel cannot help him when he stands before God, and there will be no Fifth Amendment in that courtroom.
Proverbs 28:1 says: "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." That boldness is the natural fruit of a conscience with nothing left to hide. The redeemed man doesn't need a script prepared by lawyers, because he's already settled his account at Calvary. He walks in the light, as He is in the light (1 John 1:7), and that's precisely why he has fellowship — nothing left in the dark to protect.
Let this be a mirror, not a headline. Ask yourself: if you were questioned today about your business dealings, your marriage, your parenting, your tongue — could you answer with nothing to hide? Or would you need counsel too?
Walk so close to Christ that you never need a lawyer to explain your life. That's the boldness of a lion.
