The word as a lamp and light.

The Word of God is likened to a lamp and a light.

No one walks around their house while it's dark, with the lights out. It's too easy to stumble and fall.

Instead, we turn on the lamp, so we'll have some light to see.

The same is true with the dark, deceptive, and sinful world we live in. Without proper lighting, we'll very easily stumble and fall.

All of us are prone to wander. Our hearts will deceive us into thinking that charting our own course is a good idea.

Instead, the Christian life becomes a lot clearer when we follow the clearly lit path provided by the word, as our true light and lamp.

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
