The word as a bow

The word as a bow

In Habakkuk 3, the Lord presented as a man of war, armed with a bow, likened to His word.

Habakkuk 3:9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah.

The Bible says it "was made quite naked" - meaning, it’s not sitting in its case. It's actively out and ready to be used as a weapon of war.

Warriors have a bow "made quite naked" because they are ready to fight their enemies.

If we say the word of God is our final authority, we must be willing to allow the word to judge us, and correct us.

Before we blame the preacher for "aiming" a sermon at us, we might reconsider that it was God who had His word "aimed" at us, for the purpose of convicting our hearts for change.
