The Virgin Birth of Christ
Please respectfully consider the following 4 truths.
- In the Bible, there is no special season of the year when Christians are called to remember the birth of Christ. In actuality, the reason for ALL the seasons is because of Jesus Christ. The Bible says: "for thou hast created all things." Also, there is no command, anywhere in the Bible, for Christians to celebrate the Lord's birthday. There is a command to celebrate His death. We are commanded in the Bible to do this often.
- Jesus was not born on December 25th. This is a date that pagans have set aside to worship the sun-god, not the Son of God. Pagans do this by following a solstice calendar. This sun calendar marks a day in the summer as the longest day of the year, and a day in the winter as the shortest day of the year. These are important days to pagans because they worship their false gods based on the position of the sun.
- The sweet, innocent, baby Jesus, lying in a manger, who doesn't talk about or preach about sin, is a lot easier for American's to accept, than the Jesus who died on a bloody cross as payment for sin. Christ was virgin born. However, the purpose of His virgin birth was so that a perfect, sinless sacrifice would be offered up, as payment for the sins of the world. Christ was born to die!
- The reality of American life, is that most people are more inclined to think about spiritual things, especially the birth of Christ, during the month of December. So, for THIS reason, I thought these 3 sermons concerning the birth of Christ may be a blessing to you or someone you know:
