The Uniform Comes Off. The Calling Doesn't.

You fold the uniform for the last time, and something else gets folded up with it — the unit, the accountability, the sense that someone had your back. Nobody trains you for that kind of silence.

The war ends. For a lot of guys, the fight doesn't. They weren't built to do life alone — they were built for a unit, and civilian life doesn't have much of one left. Church ought to.

That's why we started Discipled Veteran here at Pilgrim Baptist — not a support group, not a program to check a box, but a brotherhood. Same trust you had in the service. Any branch, any era, any discharge. And it's not just for the veteran — it's for the family that changed right alongside him.

But there's a mission that matters more than the one you signed up for at eighteen. Scripture says: "there is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10), and "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). You already know what it costs to lay down your life for someone else. Christ laid down His for you — "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

You've shown you understand sacrifice. Now come find out what it means to receive one.
