The presenting ask!
People want what they want.
People ask for what they want.
People reason, that what they want, is really something they absolutely need.
Some even use John 14:14 to spiritualize getting what they want.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
But the asking in John 14:14 doesn't have SELF in mind. The asking has Christ in mind. Jesus says: IN MY NAME! In other words, the object of our prayer is God.
It's not us getting what we want. It's God getting from us, what HE wants.
Here's what God desires for us:
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
God desires that we are "present" our bodies to be used for His service, each and every day.
Christians are to live their lives, with their own personal desires as dead. This is what it means to die daily, even though our bodies are very much alive. It's a dying daily to self-promotion and living daily for Christ and His purposes for us!
If you use your body to serve yourself, you will always ask God to give YOU what YOU want.
Only as you present your body as a living sacrifice to God, will you truly get a hold of asking anything in HIS name!
Get away from saying and thinking: What do I want? Instead, start saying and thinking: What does Christ want for me?
Present yourself to God, and then ask in His Holy Name!
