The Holy Spirit Isn't a Feeling
I get nervous when Christians say, "The Holy Spirit is leading me." Not because we shouldn't be led by the Spirit—we absolutely should! But because it seems the modern Christian has redefined following the Holy Spirit's leading to mean doing whatever they want and blaming the Holy Spirit for their selfish decisions.
They make choices based on their emotions, their desires, what they "feel," and then spiritualize it by telling others they "feel led." I don't want to be the Christian who refuses to make any decision unless they "feel led"—as IF feelings are the ultimate confirmation of God's will.
But here's the truth: "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105).
God leads us through His Word—not through our feelings, our opinions, our conclusions, or our skewed perspective on a situation.
Feelings lie. Opinions change. Conclusions are built on half-truths, incomplete narratives, and faulty interpretations. But God's Word stands forever.
The Holy Spirit inspired the Bible. He's not going to contradict it. So if you're waiting for a feeling that goes against Scripture, you're not being led by the Spirit—you're being deceived by your flesh.
Learn the Word. Obey the Word. Walk in the light you already have. That's how the Spirit leads.
Stop living by emotion and flawed conclusions. Start living by truth.
