The Eternal Word
The Word is the creator. That same Word was said to have dwelt among us in a body of flesh.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.·
In the Holy King James Bible, the capital W for "Word", identifies the eternal person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
When you see a lowercase w for "word", it identifies the written scripture.
The modern versions of the Bible will capitalize "word" when referring to the written scriptures.
This is partly because Philo, a Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, developed an allegorical interpretation of scripture.
Philo, along with other Greek philosophers, taught - LOGOS.
LOGOS was the law guiding light of the universe. It was the message of love and light as Deity.
These philosophers and others, who've been infected by their influence, believed in Jesus, as someone who represented LOGOS. But they didn't believe Jesus, Himself, was DEITY. They only believed that Jesus embodied and represented the LOGOS.
In other words, they never believed Jesus was as the eternal Word!
The Capital W - Word - isn’t what Jesus said or taught. It IS Jesus!
Jesus wasn’t a book – He’s Deity!
Jesus wasn't a message - He's the 2ndmember of the Godhead!
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Why would the Godhead be called the Word? – because He is a person!
The written word of God are the words, which God hath spoken. But the words which God hath spoken weren't born in a manger, nailed to a tree, placed in a tomb or risen from the dead.
The person who did that was the man, Christ Jesus.
He is Deity.
He is the eternal Word!
Jesus couldn’t have been the eternal Word, if He was JUST the words, the message, or the light of LOGOS.
