Stop Surviving on Yesterday's Manna

Stop Surviving on Yesterday's Manna

In the middle of a fired-up crowd, Jesus said: "Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead." He didn't come to keep the party going. He came to point past the miracle to the reason God sent it in the first place.

Some of us are living the same way. We keep reaching back for what nourished us ten years ago. A memory of revival. A season when God moved. A hurt somebody caused us that we've replayed so many times it's become our filter for everything. That's old manna. It fed you once. It cannot feed you now.

Jesus said, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever" (John 6:51). Not "I was." Not "I will be." I am. THE. Living Bread — Right NOW!

The Christian life was never meant to run on what happened. It runs on who's present, today, at the table.

So put the rearview mirror down. Stop bringing yesterday's hurt, yesterday's high, or yesterday's excuse to the table this morning. The bread that saved you is the same bread that sustains you.

Come and eat. That's the whole invitation. Nothing more is required of you than hunger.
