Sodomite to Straight, or Soul to Saviour?
People sometimes get the wrong idea about public ministry, especially during "Pride goeth before destruction Month".
The Christian witness is NOT to show up and protest Pride Festivals. Rather, we are to show up and preach the good news of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation freely offered to ALL who would receive Him.
Some Christians will show up at gay pride events and only preach against the sin of sodomy. And while sodomy certainly is a wicked, sinful, vile affection; there are plenty of other sins that would send someone to hell. For example: lying, looking with lust, stealing or when straight people engage in sexual relations outside of marriage.
The danger of preaching against 1 specific sin, is that you exclude those who are not committing that specific sin, yet they are just as guilty before God. This is why we are commanded to preach: For ALL have sinned!
The goal is to bring a soul to the Saviour, NOT to make a sodomite go straight.
And, what would happen if a Christian was successful in making a sodomite go straight, and the man dies that same day? The answer is a simple one. That man, who is now straight, would end up in hell because He never repented and trusted Christ as his one and only personal Saviour. This is why we must focus on introducing sinful souls to our compassionate Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are not to protest against the LGBT community, we are to preach Christ to them. We are to preach the gospel of peace to ALL sinners! Gay sinners, straight sinners, lying sinners, prideful sinners, etc...
Christians are in the business of winning souls to Christ, not trying to make sodomites go straight.
AFTER a soul meets the Saviour and is regenerated, then the power of God's Holy Spirit will begin to turn their life around. This is how a sodomite goes straights, a drunkard sobers up, a thief pays back his debts and a liar starts telling the truth.
If you're a Christian who wants to say in the will of God, then stick with the saving power of the gospel.
Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
