She Left the Water Pot
She left her water pot.
John 4:28 — "The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city."
That water pot was her whole reason for being at that well. And she left it. Not because Jesus told her to. Not because she had somewhere more important to be. She left it because what Jesus did at that well made the water pot feel worthless by comparison.
This woman had every reason to stay stuck. Five marriages behind her. Living with a man who wasn't her husband. Everybody in town knew it. She came at noon — not the usual hour — probably to avoid the crowd. She was hiding.
Then Jesus showed up and told her everything she ever did. Not to shame her. To free her.
He doesn't just forgive your past. He relocates it.
She left that water pot because her past was behind her now. Not in front of her.
So many Christians are still dragging their water pot around. Still letting what they used to do, used to be, used to carry — still letting it block the door on what God is calling them to do right now.
She didn't wait for a discipleship class. She didn't clean herself up first. She went and testified with a past that would make most of us cringe. And God used her.
Your shame is not your identity anymore. Leave the water pot.
