Shamefacedness and Sobriety

1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety;

Shamefacedness and sobriety are external standards of restraint.

A shamefaced woman will not laugh at rude jokes. She will be embarrassed when something is said that is inappropriate. She will shun what is openly disgraceful to her Lord.

Women with sobriety, have a standard of self-rule where they are able to exercise control over worldly passions and pleasures.

Our culture has lost this.

We need Christian woman to step up and bring out the reverence and respect of shamefaceness and sobriety as an example to our lost and dying world.
