Set free vs Made free

Set free vs Made free

Does the new birth and the glorious truth of God's salvation SET you free, or MAKE you free?

Consider the following:

People are "set free" from mental institutions, drug rehabs and jailhouses every day, only to end up right back where they started.

There are a lot of young people who are "set free" from their parent's house at 18 yrs old, only to go back to doing the things they weren't allowed to do when living at home.

Before someone receives the NEW BIRTH, they are destined for hell after they die.

However, after someone receives the NEW BIRTH, they have a brand-new destination: heaven!

So, the new birth doesn't "set" someone free from hell, only to have the option of returning back to the destination of hell. Instead, the new birth "makes" someone free. In other words, they are completely and entirely FREE from ever ending up back where they started.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Additionally, if you were to grab your bible, you would be able to "SET" it, on a table.

Obviously, you couldn't grab your bible if it didn't already exist. Therefore, to "set free", means something must already be in existence.

In contrast, to "make free" means something brand-new that has never existed before, now exists!

When you are born again, you have been made free. You have received a new life that has never existed before. The born birth completely wipes away your former state and makes you into something brand new!

You're not SET free to live just as you've always had. You're MADE free, and given something you've never had before.

Christ makes you free to live the new life, as a new creature, through the miraculous power of the new birth. You're now completely free from every ending up in hell.

If someone ever yells at you to: "Go to hell!" Be sure to respond back: "I can't go to hell, I've been made free!"

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
