Nobody Ever Left the Faith Over a Misunderstanding

John 6 is full of real disciples — church folks — who hear something hard from Jesus and go looking for the door. Verse 60: "This is an hard saying; who can hear it?" They don't ask Him to explain it. They ask who could stand to hear it. They weren't confused. They were just upset and didn't want to say so publically.

I've watched this for years in ministry, and I'll own it — I've done it myself. A hard truth gets preached, about marriage, about money, about raising your kids different than the world raises theirs, and instead of running to the Lord with it, we run to somebody who'll agree with us. We call it venting. We call it processing. That's still murmuring. We've just learned how to make it sound reasonable.

So ask yourself: when the Word convicts you, where do you go? Straight to Jesus, or straight to your people, looking for cover?

Most folks aren't struggling to understand hard sayings. They understand just fine. What they can't stomach is what obeying will cost them. So before you argue with what the Bible plainly says, check your heart before you check your excuses. Is it in the Book or isn't it? That's the only question that matters.

The Lord never asked you to figure everything out. He asked you to obey what you already know.
