Love the Bible, Ignore the Verses
People say they love the Bible, but end up ignoring the verses they don't like.
For example:
Jeremiah 10 says: Learn not the way of the heathen.
Yet, many Christians are ok with watching Hocus Pocus & reading Harry Potter. They are fine with celebrating every heathen holiday that comes up on the calendar, from Valentine's Day to Christmas.
They ignore the verse by re-defining it and saying: "that's not what it means", "that's not why we do it", or "that's legalism".
Mark 16:15 says: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
It's pretty clear that God gave every Christian the command to witness to the lost. But the average Christian refuses to knock on doors, hand out tracts or preach open-air. They won't bring the gospel to a nursing home or jailhouse. They won't talk to their friend, neighbor or co-worker about their need for a Saviour.
Likewise, they ignore the verse by saying: "it's the preachers job", or "that stuff doesn't work anymore", or "that's not my gift".
Romans 12:1 says: present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Holy living & sacrificial living aren't bad words, yet many Christians act like they are.
How can a Christian adopt the dress-code of pop-culture and reason in their mind that it is acceptable to God?
How can a Christian listen to rock-n-roll, country rock and all the top 40 hits and reason in their mind that it is acceptable to God?
Those things are NOT acceptable to God, because those things aren't holy.
They ignore the verse by finding a preacher who will tell them those things are ok.
If people love the Bible so much, why don't they go out of their way to find excuses to obey verses, instead of ignore verses.
All of us need daily help from the Lord in learning how to love and obey His word more. Why not start with obeying some of the verses we've been ignoring.
Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
