Exodus 21:22-23 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

As far back as the Old Testament, we can see the protection God established in His Law for a pregnant woman and her child

The Law issued 2 penalties against a man that would dare harm a pregnant woman that caused her to prematurely deliver her baby.

The penalty was in place whether the harm was done on purpose or not.

Verse 22: No mischief follow...

This means IF the premature baby lived. IF the baby lived, the Law said a fine would be paid.

Verse 23: If any mischief follow...

This means IF the premature baby died. IF the baby died, the Law said the person who caused the death of that baby, would also die!

God said it would be a LIFE for a LIFE!

God never calls an unborn baby a fetus. He has always called it a LIFE!
