Leadership Means Sacrifice
If you want to lead the body of Christ, please get ready to sacrifice.
Real Biblical leadership isn't about titles, platforms, or recognition. It's about serving people when it's inconvenient. It's about loving people when they're difficult–and people will be difficult. And it's about staying faithful when nobody's watching.
1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
Gaining the title of deacon or elder will get you an important sound name. But the title without the work is meaningless. Biblical leadership within the flock means showing up early, staying late, and carrying burdens nobody else wants to carry.
It means your family sacrifices time with you. It means you answer those late-night phone calls. It means you pray for the people who criticize you, backstab you, and deceive you. Biblical leadership means you serve people who may not appreciate you.
They crucified Jesus–the Saviour who washed the disciples' dirty feet. Paul's enemies stoned him, beat him and imprisoned him. Peter got crucified upside down. That's biblical leadership.
If you're looking for glory, you're looking in the wrong place. If you're ready to die to yourself and serve Christ's church, then be a man and step up.
We need leaders, not wanna-be celebrities.
