Leaders are there to SERVE
Followers aren’t there to serve the leader. The leader is there to serve the followers. It doesn’t matter what, if anything, the leader gets out of serving. A servant leader should think of themselves as a nobody, so they can serve anybody. This does not mean doing everything someone asks you to do. However, it does mean the following...
- Be available.
- Demonstrate self-control.
- Be decisive, but listen to understand and have all the facts.
- Lead, but don't drive. If you feel you must drive...don't OVERDRIVE!
- Ask, compel, charge...but never DEMAND!
- Organize your thoughts so you can communicate the vision.
- Make excellence the goal.
- Be willing and able to stand alone if needed.
- Care, have courage, forgive, be patient, show yourself friendly and be just.
- Expect criticism and slander, but DO NOT react with bitterness or anger.
- Treat everyone with equal respect.
- Do not have an agenda of personal honor. Instead, seek humility and truthfulness.
- Be able to pass praise to others.
- Except blame when it is and is NOT your fault.
- Do not be a procrastinator!
- Be personally accountable.
- Hold others accountable, while being compassionate about it.
- Look for the needs of people and work to meet those needs.

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
