Laziness vs Perfectionism

Laziness vs Perfectionism

The lazy person isn't much different than the perfectionist.

Both are procrastinators, who use different excuses to delay getting starting on important jobs and projects.

Both fear failure. The lazy person uses laziness as a "defense mechanism" to avoid potential failure. The perfectionist is simply afraid the job won't be done "perfect", and that they won't be seen as "perfect".

Both use avoidance behaviors. The lazy person can't meet a deadline because they have no motivation. The perfectionist won't meet a deadline because they will spend too much time over-preparing.

The lazy person and the perfectionists are both selfish people, who place "self" at the center. To avoid ruin, they can both find wisdom in the work ethic of the ant. Ants don't need external motivation. They simply get after it!

Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
