Jesus, the Greatest War Hero

Jesus, the Greatest War Hero

The Lord Jesus Christ

Birthplace: With no room for him at the inn, he was born in a manger located in Bethlehem Ephratah. His birthplace is also referenced as:

  • the city of David (Luke 2)
  • Judah (Matthew 2)
  • Ephrath (Gen 35)

All of these references point to the same location. His birthplace is not to be confused with the Northern Territory of Zebulon, which is known as Bethlehem of Galilee. He was most likely born in the month we know as September.

  • Bethlehem means "house of bread". Jesus is "the bread of life."

Background: Born of the virgin Mary, who served as his earthly mother. Also raised by his earthly step-father, Joseph who was a carpenter. This is why Jesus was referenced as the carpenter's son. It's interesting to note that the creator of the world, humbled himself to learn construction from his stepfather. Must have been hard for the disciples to understand why a carpenter would say he would destroy the temple!

Many times, Jesus spoke in "carpenter language". For example:

  • "If I go and prepare a place for you,"
  • "I will build my church."

Jesus also had at least 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Anymore cannot be confirmed nor denied. Jesus was a Nazarene, because he lived in Nazareth. This is why, when he began his public ministry, he was referred to as "Jesus of Nazareth".

  • Please note: Jesus was not a Nazarite. He didn't come to take the Nazarite vow, instead he came to save sinners.

Heroic Acts: Jesus was betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter. He was falsely arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was falsely tried, and condemned for blasphemy. Jesus was scourged, mocked, stripped and clothed in a scarlet robe. They platted his head with a crown of thorns, and he carried his cross to Golgatha. Nails were driven into his hands and feet. Jesus was crucified between two thieves. People, including religious leaders, passed by and rivaled and mocked him. He surrendered his own spirit. He died, was buried, and rose again from the dead 3 days and 3 nights later. Simply put, Jesus waged war on sin and death, and successfully defeated sin and conquered death!

  • John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
  • John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Recognition: The only Saviour of the world. The spotless, sinless, undefiled, perfect lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world. Jesus must be recognized as the only one who can save you from your sin.

  • Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
  • 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
  • John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

He suffered and died for you, so you could experience freedom from sin and death.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
