Instead of Complaining...
Instead of complaining, try these 6 things.
ONE: Count Your Blessings!
Sing the following hymn, and then name at least a dozen things you're grateful to God for. Ready...GO!
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
TWO: Praise the brethren!
The Bible says in: 1 Corinthians 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren!
Husbands, praise your wives for the hot meal she prepared.
Wives, praise your husband for his hard work.
Parents, praise your children for getting their chores done.
Church members, praise your pastor for his labor in the word.
Pastors, praise God's flock for their faithful attendance.
THREE: Be a part of a vision!
The Bible says in Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish.
Without a mindset that is purposeful in moving forward for the Lord, you risk getting stuck in a rut of depression.
FOUR: Stop living in the past!
People who live in the past typically grow old and bitter. Let go of the past and move on.
The Bible says in Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
If there's a problem, deal with it before the sun goes down. In other words, don't let the problem linger. Talk through it. Commit to being solution oriented, not problem focused.
FIVE: Join yourself to a local body of believers
1 Corinthians 12:25-27 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
Members of a local church are there to care for you. If you are suffering, allow the other members to suffer with you. If you have something to rejoice about, allow the other members to rejoice with you. These are the joys of biblical church membership.
SIX: Focus on the Joy of the Lord
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Believers really have nothing worth complaining about. We have the JOY Of the LORD!
