How to Lead People to Christ: 6 Bible Verses

How to Lead People to Christ: 6 Bible Verses

Struggling to Share Your Faith? You Already Know the Verses You Need.

Most Christians feel intimidated about witnessing, but here's the truth: you already know the Bible verses needed to lead someone to Christ. The problem isn't learning new Scripture—it's knowing how to use familiar passages as conversation openers.

These six verses provide everything you need for biblical witnessing. Write them down, highlight them in your Bible, and watch God use His Word to transform lives.

The Six Essential Witnessing Verses

1. Romans 3:23 - The Universal Problem

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Simple question to ask: "Who is the 'all' talking about in this passage?" Then stay quiet. This eliminates any superiority and establishes that everyone—including them—needs salvation.

2. Romans 6:23 - The Consequences and the Gift

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ask them: "What's the difference between wages and a gift?" We've earned death, but God offers eternal life as a free gift through Jesus Christ. Point them to the contrast—earned versus free.

3. Romans 5:8 - God's Amazing Love

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Simple question: "Do you think that's some pretty great love?" Emphasize that Christ didn't wait for us to clean up our lives—He loved us while we were still sinners.

4. Romans 10:9-13 - How to Be Saved

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Draw out the word "whosoever." God is willing to save anyone who believes on Him. This eliminates barriers and shows salvation is available to all.

5. Acts 16:30-31 - The Direct Question

"And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."

Notice: they didn't repeat a prayer. They were under conviction, asking what to do. Your goal is getting people to ask YOU how to be saved.

6. John 3:16 - The Promise

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Again, emphasize "whosoever." Anyone can believe and receive eternal life.

How to Use These Verses

Start with Questions

Don't just quote verses—ask questions that get them involved. When both of you are talking, they don't feel like you're preaching at them.

Let Scripture Do the Work

You're not responsible for converting anyone—that's the Holy Spirit's job. Your responsibility is faithfully presenting biblical truth. These verses have divine power behind them.

Deal with Self-Justification

When people say, "I've done some good things too," use 1 John 1:8: "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

Avoid False Conversions

Don't pressure someone to "repeat a prayer" like jack-in-the-box salvation. If they're truly under conviction, they'll call out to God in their own words. You can guide them, but let them respond genuinely.

The Urgency of Witnessing

Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."

Once they die, that's it. They can't be saved after death. This is why we don't delay in sharing the gospel.

Your Action Steps

  1. Highlight these six verses in your Bible today
  2. Memorize them this week—practice until they flow naturally
  3. Identify three people who need to hear the gospel and start praying for opportunities
  4. Trust the Holy Spirit to open hearts and provide divine appointments

Remember This Truth

The greatest missionaries are those already witnessing in their hometown. If you won't tell someone about Jesus where you live and work, you won't suddenly develop boldness overseas.

These simple verses have led countless people to faith when shared by ordinary believers who opened their Bibles and trusted God to work. You don't need perfect words—you need faithful hearts and the powerful Word of God.
