Hiding Never Bought Anyone Time

Adam hid in the garden, and God knew right where he was. Adam's hiding wasn't for God's benefit — it was because Adam wasn't ready to be found.

That's the oldest game in the book, and we're still playing it. At school, at work, at home — we hunker down, hoping nobody notices. We build ourselves a quiet corner and call it peace. Really it's just concealment.

God asked Adam a question He already knew the answer to: "Where art thou?" (Genesis 3:9). He was giving Adam a chance to stop hiding.

Here's the trouble with hiding from responsibility, from change, from conviction. You're hiding from time along with everybody else, and time doesn't lose track of a man the way people do. "Be sure your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23) reads like a warning, and it is one — but it comes from a Father who'd rather you deal with your sin now than let time deal with it for you later.

So come out. Whatever you've been avoiding, face it today. Time was never on your side. Grace still is — but not forever.
