God Won't Force You to Be Holy

You're Free to Destroy Yourself
Here's a truth that will shake you: God is a perfect gentleman. He won't body-slam you into submission. He won't force you to live holy.
Romans 1:24 contains some of the most terrifying words in Scripture: "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts."
Read that again. God gave them up.
The Pattern You Can't Ignore
Look at the devastating progression in Romans 1:
- Verse 24: "God also gave them up"
- Verse 26: "For this cause God gave them up"
- Verse 28: "God gave them over"
This isn't God being cruel. This is God honoring your free will while you sprint toward destruction.
You want to party on Friday, drink on Saturday, and play church on Sunday? God won't stop you. But don't you dare say you love the Lord when you're living for yourself.
Your Heart Is the Problem
Jesus made it crystal clear in Matthew 15:19: "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies."
Not your circumstances. Not your past. Not society. It's your HEART!
We live in a generation that casually texts "OMG" without flinching. We've become so comfortable with blasphemy that we don't even recognize it anymore. But God is still holy, whether you acknowledge it or not.
The Highway or the Gutter?
Isaiah 35:8 describes God's path: "And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it."
It's a highway โ elevated above the filth of this world. Not multiple paths. One way. Jesus said it plainly: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).
But here's what we do: God puts up roadblocks, and we find ways around them. He sends warnings, and we find counselors who agree with our predetermined rebellion. We grab our own counsel and ignore God's Word.
The Exchange That Damns
Romans 1:25 exposes our fatal transaction: "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator."
Every time you prioritize anything above God โ your reputation, comfort, relationships, career โ you're making this exchange. You're choosing the creation over the Creator.
Stop Playing Games
You can justify your sin all day long. You can compare yourself to others and convince yourself you're "not that bad."
But Revelation 21:27 doesn't care about your excuses: Nothing that defiles or makes a lie will enter heaven โ only those written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
If you haven't been washed in the blood of the Lamb, you're still dirty. You're still filthy. You still need Christ.
God won't force you to choose Him. He's put the truth plainly before you. The question is: Will you keep running around His roadblocks, or will you finally submit to the One who died for you?
There's only one way that leads to life, and His name is Jesus Christ.
