God Hides To See Who Will Seek Him

You ever notice the best hiders in hide-and-seek weren't the scared ones? They hid because they wanted to know who cared enough to keep looking.

That's exactly what's happening in John chapter 7. Jesus goes up to the feast, but the Bible says He went "not openly, but as it were in secret" (John 7:10). The most famous man in Judea disappears from the biggest gathering of the year. The religious leaders start scanning faces. "Where is he?" they asked.

Understand something. That's not fear or weakness. God incarnate doesn't need to hide from His enemies. He's testing His friends.

Some of you have been waiting on God to show up loud. You want the miracle, the open door, the obvious sign. But maybe He's gone quiet on purpose. Maybe the silence is an invitation, not an absence.

Elijah found that out at Horeb. Not in the wind, nor in the earthquake, nor in the fire. He found the Lord in "a still small voice" (1 Kings 19:12). The thrill got his attention. The whisper got to his heart.

Are you a thrill-seeker, or a truth-seeker? Are you only faithful when it's loud, obvious, and comfortable? Or will you seek Him in the secret place, when nobody's clapping and nothing's confirmed?

Time in the secret place creates the courage to stand up in the public one. Don't skip the whisper chasing the thrill.
