Faithful not Fickle

Faithful not Fickle

Do not treat church life as if it were a restaurant where you sit back to rate the sermon, judge the pastor, complain about the people, and post your review on Yelp.

Christians can be a fickle bunch. Some church-hop for years. Others stay put and sit back in judgment for years. They'll hide their calculations deep in the recesses of their hearts, treating the body of Christ like a shopping mall.

Hebrews 10:25 says: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is." Notice it doesn't say "until you get sick of the people or the pastor" or "when it's convenient for me."

Purpose in your heart to come to the church-house to give, to encourage, to serve, to bear one another's burdens. Come to worship God—not to be entertained.

When someone's heart is constantly full of criticism and complaint, they're not being led by the Spirit. They're being led by their flesh. The flesh wants control, comfort and catering to its preferences. The Spirit says, die to yourself daily and serve honestly.

Find a Bible-believing church that preaches the Word without compromise. Plant yourself there. Serve there. Give there. Stop looking for greener grass.

The church isn't perfect because you're in it, or I'm in it. The church is Christ's bride. He loves His church. He gave himself for it (Eph 5:25).

Start acting like you're part of something bigger than your own personal preferences.

Your church needs you faithful, not fickle.
