Easy Sheep Don’t Need a Shepherd
Pastoral leadership means shepherding the hard ones: “he calleth his own sheep by name” (John 10:3).

Every pastor and every parent has wished it. If everybody had the same problem and answered to the same fix, the work would be easier. It would also be a flock nobody had to love. Anybody can follow a manual, and anybody will.

But the Lord’s sheep aren’t alike. “He calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.” Every one of them has a history and a will of its own.

So love the hard, unpredictable ones. They’ll keep you on your knees.
