Disassemble vs Dissemblance
To disassemble, means to take something apart.
Dissemble, however, means to give a false appearance. It's used to describe someone's deceptive, dishonest and insincere behavior.
The words disassemble and dissemble look and sound similar, making it hard to detect the difference. Likewise, is the behavior of a dissembled person.
They pretend something's not wrong, when something is wrong. Their deceptive behavior is like the shady politician who has no intention of delivering on their promises. Their dishonest dealings are likened to the shrewd businessman who offers a deal, while concealing true intentions.
The words from their lips do not resemble their true motives.
Re-semblance is a likeness or actual similarity.
Dis-semblance is a parting from that likeness and concealing the similarity.
The Bible uses the word dissembleth in Proverbs 26.
Proverbs 26:24-25 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
