Are You Guilty Before God? Romans Has the Answer

Every Person Faces the Same Terrifying Reality
Here's a question that should shake you to your core: If your actions were brought under God's judgment tomorrow, would you survive?
The Book of Romans settles this without dispute - every mouth will be stopped, and every person will be condemned by God. It's like a judge bringing down the gavel: everybody's guilty, everybody's condemned.
The Perfect Man to Write God's Legal Case
Who better for God to use than Paul - the former persecutor who stood unmoved while Stephen was stoned to death? This same man who once hunted Christians became God's chosen vessel to pen Christianity's most foundational truths.
"I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day" (Acts 22:3).
Paul knew the law inside and out. He was religion's poster child - until he met Jesus.
Universal Guilt: No One Escapes
Romans reveals a devastating truth: everyone is condemned before God.
- The Gentiles received creation's testimony but turned to idolatry
- The Jews received God's law but broke every commandment
"For there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:22-23).
You might be physically alive, but spiritually? You're dead in trespasses and sin. Your body is just the building that houses your spirit and soul. When you die, your soul goes to heaven or hell based on one thing: Are you guilty or justified before God?
Why You're Dead While Breathing
Think about it: you have no spiritual life and no righteousness in you. By nature, we're separated from a holy God because of sin.
Recently, I met someone who blamed God for his medical condition, saying "God did this to me, so I don't believe." But here's the truth - "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). We all have something broken in our bodies because of mankind's sin problem, not God's cruelty.
God's Shocking Solution
Here's the miracle: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
God doesn't make you righteous - He gives you His righteousness. It's imputed, not earned. It's a gift to "whosoever will."
But here's what breaks my heart - most people claiming to be Christians are still abiding in ungodliness. They're submersed in worldly entertainment, ungodly music, and wickedness that pours through screens and earbuds into their hearts.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
If you're truly saved, act like it. You can't live in the world and expect to abide in Christ. The victory is in Jesus, not in your entertainment choices.
Your Three-Part Relationship with God
1. Come Unto Him
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). God initiates salvation - you respond.
2. Live in Him
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me" (John 15:4). You must abide in Christ, not in worldliness.
3. Work for Him
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:20). You work for Him, not yourself. When God asks you to stop something, you don't negotiate - you obey.
The Bottom Line
Romans is God's complete legal case against humanity and His provision for salvation. Whether you're a Gentile who ignored creation's testimony or a Jew who broke God's law - you're guilty.
But God offers eternal life through Jesus Christ. The question isn't whether you're guilty (you are) - it's whether you'll accept God's gift of righteousness through faith in His Son.
If you're not saved, you're not a new creature - you're an old creature headed for judgment. But God made a way: Jesus died for your sins, rose again three days later, and offers salvation only by His merit.
Stop making excuses. Stop blaming God. Come to Him today.
