Are You Ashamed of the Gospel?

Are You Ashamed of the Gospel?

The Hard Truth About Christian Silence

When was the last time you shared the Gospel with someone who needed to hear it?

If you're like 90% of Christians, the honest answer is: most can't remember. We'll justify spending thousands on vacation, argue passionately about politics, and boldly defend our favorite sports teams—but when it comes to the One who saved our souls? Silence.

The Debt You're Avoiding

"I am debtor both to the Greeks and to the Barbarians; both to the wise and to the unwise." - Romans 1:14

Paul understood something most Christians today have forgotten: salvation creates a debt. Not a debt to God—Jesus paid that in full. A debt to every person around you who's heading to hell without Christ.

Think about it: You weren't ashamed to sin before you got saved. You weren't ashamed of the drinking, the lying, the rebellion against God. You were God's enemy, and you lived like it boldly.

Then Jesus saved you, and suddenly you're ashamed of your Savior?

Your Excuses Won't Hold Up

"So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also." - Romans 1:15

Paul faced every excuse you use:

  • Weak appearance - His bodily presence was weak, his speech contemptible
  • Physical problems - He had a thorn in the flesh
  • Hostile audience - He was walking into Rome, where they crucified Christ
  • Cultural barriers - A Jew preaching to Gentiles

Yet, Paul was ready. What's your excuse?

You're ready for lunch at noon. Ready for dinner at five. Ready to spend money on entertainment. But you're not ready to share the Gospel that saved your soul?

The Power That Changes Everything

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." - Romans 1:16

This world is blinded by Satan, "the god of this world" who "hath blinded the minds of them which believe not" (2 Corinthians 4:4). Every institution—media, entertainment, government, education—can be used to keep people in darkness.

But you have something infinitely more powerful.

The Gospel isn't self-help advice or moral philosophy. It's the power of God unto salvation. When someone believes that "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), God's power transforms their eternal destiny.

Stop Making Excuses, Start Paying Your Debt

Christ wasn't ashamed when He bled out on Calvary for you. Don't you be ashamed of Him now.

Every person in your town deserves to hear about Jesus before they die. Not because you're doing God a favor, but because you owe them this debt.

Start simple:

  • Give your testimony (if you can't, maybe you were never saved)
  • Share 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
  • Tell them Christ died for their sins
  • Leave a Gospel tract

The power isn't in your eloquence—it's in the Gospel itself.
