Ability or Availability
All members of the body of Christ, have spiritual gifts and spiritual commands, given them by the Lord.
So why the lack of labourers?
Ability doesn't seem to be the problem. There are numerous ways to learn just about anything in today's world. Not to mention the fact, that a good Bible-believing church can get a brand-new Christian up-to-speed in about 9 months. The catch is, the new Christian must be willing to make themselves available.
You see, the problem isn't ability, it's availability. Most people will not avail themselves to the work of the ministry.
Excuses are a dime-a-dozen. People are free to pick one, and make it work for their excuse to not be available.
However, along with the real problem of availability, comes the reality of the opportunity.
If everyone was highly available to serve the Lord, then there would be less opportunity for you to serve the Lord.
Brothers and sisters, we can either complain that nobody else is availing themselves to the work of the ministry. Or, we can take advantage of the opportunities that we have to serve the Lord.
It's easy to get frustrated at the unavailability of others. Why not get excited about the opportunities we have to labor and serve the Lord.
Taking advantage of the opportunities you have, may inspire others to get involved in the harvest field.
Luke 10:2 The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
