A Covered Sin Never Stays Small

Every man stumbles. Some trouble finds you that you never had a hand in. Most of the harm comes from what a man does next.

David saw Bathsheba and sent for her. Then he brought Uriah home from the war, hoping to hide what he had done. When that didn't work, he had Uriah killed. Nathan the prophet told him the sword would never depart from his house, and it never did.

You may never go that far. But you have likely told a second lie to cover the first. You may have stayed on a wrong road because turning around meant admitting you took it. Some folks get burned once and quit stepping out to do right at all.

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

So quit covering. Get alone with God and call the sin by its name. Go to the one you wronged and make it right. Then follow the Holy Spirit the next morning, and the one after that.
