6 Reasons to Attend Church
The simplest and most basic thing Christians do, is to attend a local church. Yet, many Christians are just plain stubborn when it comes to obeying God's command to gather with the called out assembly.
Here are 6 positive benefits of WHY all Christians should attend a good, bible-believing church.
- Learn the Bible: When you find a church with a pastor who labours in the word day in and day out, you'll learn the Bible more.
- Fellowship: All Christians and their families need encouragement from like-minded individuals. Faithfully attending a local-church offers you this benefit.
- Parents set the example for their children: When parents show up for church service, they are teaching their children that it is important to prioritize church-time. What a great example to set for your kids.
- God commanded us to assemble: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". (Hebrews 10:25) Showing up for church-service offers us the benefit of obeying God.
- Grow Spiritually: All Christians benefit by getting excited about growing spiritually, through the singing, preaching, praying & fellowship that is offered at a local church.
- Opportunity to serve: It's through the local church that Christian's learn how to serve-God more fully. You'll receive the benefit of finding a place to use the spiritual gifts given you by God.
Unfortunately, the harsh-reality is that some Christians don't faithfully attend a local-church. The number one reason is spiritual pride. If this is you, below are 6 rebukes, each with an appeal to get right with God.
- The know-it-all: You don't know all there is to know about the Bible. Nobody does. Humble yourself and obey God by sitting under the teaching of a God-ordained pastor.
- Too good for church people: You're not "too good" or "too spiritual" for the other Christians at the church-house. Humble yourself, and learn to get along with other believers, who don't see things just as you do. Life isn't all about YOU!
- Poor parenting example: If you're a parent, and you prioritize attendance to sports activities, home-schooling events, farming chores and family time, but fail to prioritize attending church-services, it's time to repent and confess to your children how wrong you've been. Humble yourself and start setting a better example by prioritizing church attendance.
- Disobeying God: You can use - Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them", as an excuse to NOT attend a local church all you want. Or, you can repent and obey - Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". By doing so, you'll end up obeying both verses. Humble yourself, get right, and get to the church-house.
- Stunt your Growth: Without help from your brothers and sisters in Christ, you'll never be able to grow into all God would have you to be. All believers, need each other. This is why Christ put us in a body. You'll be surprised how much you can grow, through healthy fellowship with other believers.
- Christians Service: If you aren't will to serve with your brothers and sisters in Christ, you're sending a message that says - "You're not worth my time", or "I'm too busy doing MY thing". The local church exists to help its members to find a place to serve Christ. Humble yourself and get right today, so you don't miss all the opportunities available to you to serve God, alongside His people.
